May marks the birth of life in Colorado as suburban deer frolic along golf courses, and baby bunnies appear in front lawns. Kris Tait, owner of SoBo's Broadway jewel, Decade, reminds us that new life always surrounds us. This spring, Tait will launch a new maternity line in her nine-year-old store. She recently organized the first MOM2B tradeshow in LA's Cooper Design Space, and only moments before she boarded the flight for California did she realize that she too wanted to provide Denver with a new vision for mom-to-be and baby items.

Decade's new nine-month fashion and products will showcase some of the best maternity lines available. Local collections, such as Denver-based Bloom and Bella Mama, skin-care lines that feature belly butter, belly bars and almost anything that can be applied to a pregnant stomach.
Most of the maternity clothing line and products retails between $20 and $80, creating a unique niche in the market. "Many of our regular shoppers have started to purchase the maternity line even if they are not pregnant," notes Tait. "Some of the shirts and smock tops easily cross fashion borders from maternity to trendy daily wear."
Tait's commitment to the new collection encouraged her to become the title sponsor for the May 2007 Run, Walk Waddle 5K Race benefiting the Kempe Foundation to support their Post Partum Mood Disorders division.
